A kingdom’s name for its ruler varies between the kingdoms, but the presence of such a figure is a constant between the kingdoms. The rulership is inherited by the children of the current ruler, although the system for choosing which child is to be the next ruler varies by kingdom. When no such heir exists The Order searches through that kingdom’s population to find the next ruler, often a time of great excitement as The Order only cares to find someone of the Bloodline, and their social position is not a factor. What exactly the Bloodline carried by the rulers is remains a mystery thought to be lost to time although many individuals, groups, and whole kingdoms have their own beliefs about the Bloodline, ranging from a divine mandate from the creator, to being the descendants of ancient heroes or even dragons. It is generally accepted that those of the Bloodline are more than regular people as when a new kingdom rises from the war-torn ashes of another it is common for at least one of the heroes of the new kingdom to be determined as one of the Bloodline.
